A high level meeting convened by the Prime Minister in New Delhi today discussed the situation arising out of the rise in food prices and ways to tackle inflation. Another round of the meeting is likely to take place. The date of next meeting has, however, not been decided yet.The meeting came in the backdrop of Food inflation soaring to over 18 percent with prices of vegetables, milk, egg and meat registering a sharp increase. Today 's meeting was attended by the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia Chiwf Economic Advisor to the Finance Ministry Kaushik Basu.
