Maniram Patel claims Gold in men's 20 kilometre walk in 19th Federation Cup senior athletics championship at Mangaluru

Gujarat's Maniram Patel has claimed the Gold in the men's 20 kilometre walk in the 19th Federation Cup senior athletics championship. In the finals at Mangaluru, Karnataka, today, he clocked a time of 1 hour, 29 minutes, 51 seconds for the coveted medal. Kuldeep of Tata Motors came second for the Silver, while Ankit Kumar of Indian Navy stood third for the Bronze. On Saturday, World University Games Silver medallist and defending champion Inderjeet Singh of Haryana became the first athlete in the meet to qualify for the Rio Olympics with a stupendous toss of 20.65 metres in shot put. At the end of the second day Saturday, hosts Karnataka was leading the points table with 63 points. Army were second with 46 points while Kerala were third with 40 points.
