Manipur: Repoll in 34 poll-stations on 4th February

In Manipur, Election Commission has ordered re-poll in 34 polling stations covering 11 Assembly constituencies in five hill districts.The state Chief Electoral Officer P C Lawkunga told AIR Imphal correspondent this evening that re-poll will be held on the 4th of February. He said, re-poll is necessitated following violence and malpractices during Saturday’s polling. He said, all the polling stations have been declared hyper-sensitive and 93 companies of the Central paramilitary forces will be deployed for the re-poll.Of the 34 polling stations, nine are in Ukhrul district and eight each in Senapati and Chandel districts, five in Churachandpur district while the remaining four are in the Tamenglong district.
