In Manipur, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inspected the totally dried-up Singda Dam Project which is sixteen kilometers away from Imphal. The population of Imphal has been facing problems in getting safe drinking water after the Singda Dam Project was not able to provide water to the city.<br />'' <br />''In an unprecedented situation, the Singda Dam Project has failed to provide safe drinking water to Imphal city and other places this year.<br />'' <br />''During the inspection, the Chief Minister informed the media persons that mass deforestation in the catchment areas of the Singda Dam has been found. Therefore, it is not able to provide drinking water to Imphal City.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He said that the State Police has been deployed in the catchment areas of Singda Dam Project and fencing works have already been initiated to safeguard the greenery. Moreover, the Government has decided to take up mass tree plantations in hill areas. </span><br />
