Major Amit Deswal, who bravely fought militants at Lenglong in Tamenglong District of Manipur before being martyred, has been given state honour this afternoon at an Army campus at Changangei in Imphal.<br/><br/>State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Manipur Police Chief L M Khuate, senior officers of state police, Army and para-military forces paid floral tribute to the mortal remains of the Army officer.<br/><br/>The Army Major got killed in an encounter with militants at Lenglong under Nungba Police Station in Tamenglong yesterday. His body was recovered this morning on the spot about 30 Kilometres away to the West from Nungba Sub-Divisional Headquarters. <br/><br/>His body was brought to Imphal this afternoon. He belonged to 21-Para Special Force of the Army. His body will be sent to his home state Haryana this evening itself.
