Manipur: Newly elected MLAs take oath as members of 12th Legislative Assembly

<span style="color: #222222;">In Manipur, the newly elected members of the 12th Legislative Assembly have taken oath as members this morning. Protem Speaker  S. Rajen administered oath to sixty members at the Assembly Hall.  Meanwhile, the BJP which got the absolute majority in the recently concluded General Election is expected to form a BJP led Government. The leaders of the party have begun discussions for formation of the government and selection of a Chief Minister Candidate.<br />''<br />''AIR correspondent reports that the elected members who have taken oath as MLA today consist of 32 of BJP, seven of National People's Party, six of Janata Dal (United), five each of Indian National Congress and Naga People's Front, two of Kuki People's Alliance and three Independent candidates. Historically, five elected women candidates also gave their oath as members of Manipur Legislative Assembly today. With the conclusion of the oath-taking ceremony, the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly has come into force from today. Meanwhile, Janata Dal (United) has decided to support the BJP State government. The party has issued a statement wherein Shri Kh. Joykishan has been appointed as chief of the legislature and given unconditional support to the BJP government. The BJP has not announced any coalition with the party so far. However, it is expected that they are likely to meet the Governor for the formulation of government. </span><br />
