Manipur is facing acute shortage of all essential commodities following a month-long economic blockade on the national highways. The blockade is being imposed at various parts on national highways by Naga students in protest against the holding of autonomous Hill District Council election in two phases on May 26 and June 2nd this year.<br/>As results of economic blockade the Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Silchar national highway – the only two lifeline for Manipur remains closed for traffic. <br/>
