In Manipur, the State Government has taken stringent measures to transport the loaded trucks in the State through Imphal-Jiribam National Highway in view of the ongoing economic blockade called by the Naga civil society bodies in the State in protest against holding of autonomous district council elections. The decision to this effect was taken by the State Cabinet yesterday in view of the acute shortage of essential commodities including petroleum products in the State. Around 400 loaded trucks meant for the state are now stranded at Khatkhati in Assam. Adequate security escorts are being arranged to ferry the goods from Silchar along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway.
