Manipur govt issues shoot at sight orders in extreme cases

<span style="color: #222222;">Manipur Government has authorised to issue shoot at sight orders in extreme cases as the situation remains tense in the state in the last 24 hours after the solidarity rally organised by the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur(ATSUM) on Wednesday in the hill districts of the State in protest against the demand for inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe category.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, State Governor Anusuiya Uikey has appealed to all sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed and religion to maintain peace and harmony and our age-old tradition of coexistence. She also appealed to amicably solve the problem to restore peace and normalcy in the state. She also expressed her deep shock to hear the sad news of a series of unfortunate incidents.<br />''<br />''The Governor also conveyed her deepest condolences to the bereaved family members of those who lost their lives in the recent incidents. She also urged to all to have a dialogue at the earliest to avoid further untoward major incidents.<br />''<br />''Home Minister Amit Shah is closely the monitoring situation in Manipur and is in constant touch with top functionaries of State and Centre. Sources said the Home Minister held two video-conference meetings with Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, State Chief Secretary, DGP, Union Home Secretary and other top officials. Mr Shah also spoke to Chief Ministers of neighbouring States. Sources said, retired IPS officer Kuldiep Singh, a former CRPF Chief, has been appointed security advisor by the Manipur government. Paramilitary forces have been deployed in the State and if required, more will be sent tomorrow.</span>
