Manipur govt inducts another 12 GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles

<span style="color: #222222;">In Manipur, the State government intensified the security measures along the national highways by inducting another 12 GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles for five hill districts. These vehicles were flagged off today by Chief Minister N. Biren today from Imphal.<br />''<br />''Earlier, the State government flagged off 15 GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles for different hill districts under phase I and phase II. The vehicles are used by the State police for security measures along with highways.<br />''<br />''Speaking on the occasion, N. Biren Singh said that the GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles are launched to enable quick response from Police to any incident that takes place along the national highways in the State. The location of the patrol vehicles could be tracked from the Police headquarters.<br />''<br />''He said that the vehicle could accommodate a minimum of 10 police personnel and the patrol teams would help to stop threatening and extortion of truck and bus drivers by unknown miscreants along the National Highways.<br />''<br />''The Chief Minister said that the law and order of the State had significantly improved with the tireless day and night service from the Police side and also with the support and cooperation of the public. As such, there is now no need for security convoys for the transportation of oil tankers in the State.
