In Manipur, the agitating United Naga Council (UNC) has flatly rejected the State government's offer of talks. In a press statement today, the apex body of Naga tribes has said that it UNC cannot meet and discuss with the state government on Autonomous District Council issue.State Government had invited UNC to talk with the government on coming Saturday to end the economic blockade on the National Highway 39 and National Highway 53 which are considered to be the life-lines of the state.State Cabinet has recommended to send three ministers to Senapati District Headquarters to hold talks with the representatives of UNC.Meanwhile, 146 empty vehicles left Imphal for Assam to lift petroleum products and food grains on the Imphal-Dimapur National Highway. Altogether 106 empty vehicles including 92 trucks, 6 LPG bullet trucks and 8 oil tankers left Imphal this afternoon for Assam. Assam bound 40 empty oil tankers which have left Imphal yesterday afternoon have already crossed Kohima today. Imphal bound 11 loaded trucks including 8 oil tankers escorted by CRPF personnel have also crossed Senapati in Manipur along the Imphal Dimapur National Highway today.AIR Imphal correspondent quoting police sources reports that these tankers were provided adequate security cover so that the drivers face no trouble on their way. At the same time over 400 Imphal bound loaded trucks have left Jiribam for Imphal on the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway under tight security protection. However, the vehicles held up at Barak Bridge because of the abysmal road condition. Imphal bound another 40 loaded trucks are also still stranded at Jiribam.
