<span style="color: #222222;">In Manipur, the Nupi Lal Day was observed to pay homage to the brave women of Manipur who fought against the injustice of British colonial rule in 1939. The day is observed every year on December 12. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh led others in paying the floral tribute to the women freedom fighters at the Nupi Lal Memorial Complex in Imphal today.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">This year's observations have also become historic as the State Government announced to honour the brave women of Manipur by renaming a road stretch in Imphal as 'Nupi Lal Road'. Moreover, the Chief Minister announced to implement new scheme titled ' Chief Minister's Ima Nongthanglema Yaipha Tengbang Scheme' for women who are above 40 years of age with no source of income. Under the newly launched scheme, financial assistance of five hundred rupees per month will be given to the beneficiaries.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Speaking on the occasion, Mr Biren mentioned the contribution of womenfolk in every crucial time of the State since time immemorial. He further recalled the role taken by Manipuri women in regaining their motherland from Burmese during the Seven Years Devastation period.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Chief Minister also spoke on the present law and order situation in Manipur and stressed the need for all the communities residing in the State to stand together and face the challenges ahead. He said that the Myanmar nationals moving inside Manipur's boundary have been given shelter on humanitarian ground. However, their biometrics are being collected so that influx does not affect our indigenous populations.</span><br />
