In Manipur, campaigning for the 60-Member State Assembly elections has reached a feverish pitch with the arrival of several national leaders of various political parties. BJP Vice President and film actress Hema Malini today made a whirlwind campaign in the three valley districts of the state. NCP General Secretary, P.A. Sangma and Naga People's Front leader and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphieu Rio also campaigned for their party candidates in various parts of the State.The Congress party has promised to fight corruption by effectively enforcing the Lokayukta in the State. The election manifesto of the party also pledged to remove the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from the entire State if the party comes to power for the third consecutive term. It also promised for a negotiated settlement of the vexed insurgency problem in the State. The party manifesto was released today at Imphal by AICC General Secretary Luizinho Faleiro.
