The All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) and the United Naga Council (UNC) have announced a temporary suspension of the over two month long economic blockade in Manipur from this evening. <br/><br/>The decision was taken in a joint meeting among the leaders of the Naga Hoho, UNC, the Naga Students Federation NSF, ANSAM, Naga Peoples’ Movement for Human Right and the Naga Women’s’ Union in Kohima. <br/><br/>According to a press release issued jointly by these organizations, the decision was taken following appeals by the Centre, leader of the opposition , the student communities of the neighbouring states and the Indian civil societies at large, for lifting of the economic blockade. <br/><br/>The release, however, said that the agitation programme will continue in different forms and at different levels till the aspirations of the Naga people are fulfilled. Meanwhile, allying apprehensions of Manipur truck drivers, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said state government is ready to increase security if the truckers felt the need on the state's sector of the NH 39.
