Manipur Legislative Assembly on Wednesday deeply condoled the sudden demise of MLA Elangbam Suraj Singh, former state Ministers Moirangthem Meghachandra Singh and Haukholal Thangjom. The members of the House stood in silence for two minutes as a mark of respect to the departed souls. Later, the House was adjourned for the day. Members across party lines, led by Leader of the House Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and Opposition Leader Radhabinod Koijam appreciated the valuable contributions made by Meghachandra and Thangjom during the statehood movement of Manipur. They also appreciated the meticulous administrative and parliamentary skills of Meghachandra as state Minister and Member of Lok Sabha. Members of the House mentioned the contributions made by Thangjom in the administration of the state as a tribal leader as well as a think-tank from the hill areas of Manipur. They also termed the sudden demise of Suraj in a road accident in New Delhi on Thursday last as an irreparable loss and acknowledged him as a highly qualified knowledgeable, young and dynamic personality.
