In Manipur, three candidates are in the fray for the Konthoujam Assembly bye-election to be held on the 14th February, 2011. The candidates are Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh of Congress, K. Sarat Singh of Trinamul Congress and independent candidate Ranjit Singh. Counting of votes will be held on the 17th of this month. Election campaign for the bye-election is getting its momentum and candidates are going door to door to garner support from voters. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate of Imphal West has issued an order to gun licence holders to deposit their arms and ammunition to nearest police stations immediately till the process of the bye-election is completed.
