Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi today inaugurated an online portal NARI in New Delhi for the empowerment of women. <br/><br/>Developed by the Ministry, the portal will provide easy access to information on government schemes and initiatives for women. <br/><br/>On the occasion, Ms Gandhi said, the portal – nari.nic.in summarise over 350 government schemes and other important information. She said, NARI elaborates how the Government is focussed to economically empower women through schemes under Direct Benefit Transfer. <br/><br/>The Minister said the portal provides links to the Ministries, Departments and autonomous bodies offering these schemes as well as easy access to online applications and grievance redressal. <br/><br/>Also, there are tips on nutrition, suggestions for health check-ups, tips for job search, investment and savings advice, information on crimes against women and reporting procedures, contacts of legal aid cells, adoption procedures and much more. <br/><br/>The Minister also inaugurated e-Samvad portal developed to provide a platform for NGOs and civil societies to interact with the Ministry. Ms Gandhi said, through the portal, NGOs and civil society can provide their feedback, put up grievances and share best practices. <br/><br/>Our correspondent reports that initiatives like NARI and e-Samvad portals are intended to generate awareness and put together relevant information scattered at different websites. <br/><br/>
