Maneka Gandhi answer people's queries on Facebook over women, children issues

Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi today held a live Question and Answer session on Facebook to discuss the new initiatives of her Ministry and to initiate a dialogue with the people on the issues concerning the women and children in the country.<br/><br/>An official release said, the session, which lasted forty five minutes, drew an overwhelming response. Nearly 65 thousand people were reached during the session with questions on the subject of women and child development, violence against women, child labour, begging among children, gender sensitization among others. <br/><br/>In some of the replies to the questions, Mrs. Maneka Gandhi talked about the initiatives like One Stop centres, extension of Child line to 352 districts and 33 percent reservation for women among police force.<br/><br/>The Ministry has already launched a new initiative #100Women in collaboration with Facebook. Through this unique initiative, the Government wishes to acknowledge and recognize 100 women achievers who have contributed to community and nation building across the country. <br/><br/>It involves a contest to select 100 women achievers of the country through public nominations via social media. Nominations can be submitted till 30th of this month through the Facebook page.
