In Karnataka, the Mandya District Raitha Hitarakshana Samithi has called for a bandh tomorrow in protest against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. In a press release issued today Samithi President and former MP G. Madegowda said the bandh is called to exert pressure on Central and State Governments on the plight of farmers in the district. The State Government is releasing 10,000 cusecs of water everyday to Tamilnadu as a goodwill measure. He said a school-college bandh has been called on Sept. 17 where thousands of students would take out a march in Mandya city.
