The Railway Minister, Ms Mamta Banerjee on Thursday flagged off an Exhibition Train, named Commonwealth Express, on the themes of Sports and Information Technology (IT) from Safdarjung Railway Station, New Delhi. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion Ms Banerjee said that the train will create awareness among the people about Commonwealth Games and the achievements of the country in the field of information and technology. She said that it will also attract people from all walks of life across the country to make the mega event a grand success. <br/><br/>The Union Minister of State for Communication and IT, Mr. Sachin Pilot said that besides the sports, the exhibition will also throw light on the achievements of the IT sector. AIR correspondent reports that the train in its 101-day-long journey, will travel through 49 cities and towns across the country. It will come back to the same station on 2nd of October as the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games will be held the next day in the national capital. <br/><br/>The 11 coaches train is being run jointly by the Ministry of Railways through its Railway Sports Promotion Board. It will manage the Sports part of the exhibition in 5 railway coaches. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology will manage the IT part of the exhibition in six coaches.
