The West Bengal Chief Minister Ms.Mamta Banerjee will today start returning back agricultural land acquired in Singur by the previous Left-front government for setting up Nano car there. The process of giving back this agricultural and cultivable land to about 4,000 farmers whose lands were taken by the then state government will continue till the 10th November.<br/><br/>Land will be distributed in five moujas of Singur. These are Gopal Nagar, Khaser Bheri, Bera Bheri, Singher Bheri and Baje Maliem. The Chief Minister is to hand over this block of lands at Gopal Nagar. Altogether a total of 25 farmers will be in first batch of land receivers.<br/><br/>A division bench of Justices Arun Mishra and V. Gopala Gowda of Supreme Court on August 31 had ruled that the land acquisition process in Singur for the NANO car project was faulty and was not for public purpose. The court had directed that land be returned to the farmers within 12 weeks' time.
