Mamata to meet PM to seek urgent central assistance for WB

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today to seek an urgent central assistance for the State. She is on her first visit to the National Capital since becoming the Chief Minister. Talking to Media in New Delhi, after meeting the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee yesterday, Ms. Banerjee said unfortunately Bengal has become a backward state now, though there is lot of talent, but because politicisation of administration, the state has suffered immensely. Emphasizing on West Bengal's development, she said it is the gateway for the North East and if Bengal is developed, then North East region will also be benefited. She will also meet Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahaluwalia tomorrow.
