West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee laid the foundation stone for the beautification project on the banks of river Hoogly in Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon. Speaking on the occasion, Miss Banerjee said that the project has been taken up keeping the idea of beautification on the banks of Thames river in London.The Chief Minister said that once the project is implemented, it will attract more tourists in the city as well as increase business activities. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that under the beautification project different ghats on the banks of the river Hoogly, will be renovated and shopping malls, cultural centers and other entertainment hubs will be set up. The beautification project will come up along 10 Kilometres area on the bank of river Hoogly in Kolkata.
