AIADMK Chief J Jayalalithaa raised the pitch for a non-Congress and non-BJP government after the Lok Sabha polls. Addressing an election rally at Arani in Tamil nadu, Jayalalithaa said that in the present situation only regional parties can jointly form a government at Centre.
She appealed to the electorate to ensure AIADMK candidates' victory in all the Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to enable her party to play a key role in government formation at the Centre.
Elaborating the view of Jayalalithaa, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said that a Federal Front government will be formed after the elections and Narendra Modi becoming Prime Minister is a fantasy.
In an interview to PTI, the Trinamool Congress chief said in Kolkata said that the Federal Front is the future and a Federal Front government will be formed after the elections.
Dismissing any comparisons with her state and Gujarat, Mamta Banerjee said that it is like comparing a rich, privileged child and an undernourished, neglected one.
She alleged that both the Congress and the BJP talked about 33 per cent reservation for women in the Women's Reservation Bill. But the BJP has only 8 per cent women candidates and the Congress has 14 per cent while Trinamool Congress has 27 per cent women candidates.
The Congress dismissed the posssibility of support to a Third Front in forming the next government at the Centre. Party General Secretary Ajay Maken yesterday insisted a UPA-III coalition will rule the country after Lok Sabha polls.
His remarks assume significance as they came close on the heels of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav claiming that the Third Front will form a stable government with Congress' support after Lok Sabha elections
