Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday formally inaugurated a new railway link between Nandigram and Deshopran in the East Midnapore district of West Bengal. There will be four railway stations in this 20 kilometer stretch. <br/><br/>Mamata Banerjee said that the entire exercise has been done keeping Nandigram’s development in mind. She said that, the next phase of expansion will be to link Haldia and Khejuri. She said that, no land will be forcefully acquisitioned for the purpose and if needed new houses will be built in case of the loss of houses. She also promised jobs to affected families. She also promised the setting of a computerized railway reservation counter at Nandigram by the 13th of February.
