Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday inaugurated the metro extension from Kabi Nazrul Station to Kabi Subhas Station in the southern fringes of Kolkata. This will benefit people in the 2.7 kilometer stretch of South Kolkata. She announced the A.C Coach will also run 20 times a day. Mamata Banerjee announced that anti-collision devices will be introduced soon in the Railway. Admitting that there is a shortage of rakes in the Metro Rail, she said that more rakes would join the Indian Railways soon. She said that the onus of maintaining the Metro Services lies on the passengers.
