Mamata govt completes one year in West Bengal

In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress led government completes one year of rule today. On this day in 2011, the Trinamool Congress Chief Ms Mamata Bannerjee took oath as Chief Minister of the state, ousting CPI(M) from power after 34 years of ruling.

Our Kolkata Correspondent Arijit Chakraborty reports, the state government has arranged a series of programmes to celebrate the occasion.

The Chief Minister, Ms Mamta Bannerjee will present the Bongo Vibhushan and Bongo Bhushan awards to eminent personalities of different fields at a function in Kolkata this evening. They include Sitar Maestro Ravi Shankar, Noted Bengali Cine Actress Suchitra Sen and others.

The week-long Pragati Utsav also begun in the city yesterday to highlight the achievements of the new government in last one year.

Meanwhile, the opposition leader Dr. Suryakanta Mishra has alleged that people's aspirations for “Parivartan” have not been fulfilled yet.
