Mamata demands immediate Assembly polls in West Bengal

Buoyed by the remarkable showing of her party in the civic elections in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee demanded immediate assembly elections in West Bengal. Terming her party's success historic, she said the CPI(M) has lost moral right to continue in power in the state.<br/><br/>The CPI(M) has rejected the TMC demand of early assembly elections in the state. While speaking to reporters in New Delhi, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee chief Pranab Mukherjee said the party accepts the verdict of the people in all humility. <br/><br/>Congress party also ruled out any alliance with the Left in West Bengal. Party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told reporters in New Delhi that the West Bengal municipal election results will not affect the UPA coalition. <br/><br/>The results of all the 81 Municipal Bodies of West Bengal which went to polls on the 30th of last month was declared yesterday. <br/>
