Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee complained of chest pain today after her car suddenly braked after one of her convoy vehicles was hit by a lorry. The West Bengal government and state police said the incident happened last night near Kolaghat bridge, about 70 kilometers from Kolkata. She was returning from her rally at Maoist bastion in Lalgarh. Mamata was not in the car hit by the lorry coming from the opposite direction but her bodyguard was injured. The lorry driver has been arrested. The state government said prime facie it was an accident but her aide alleged it was an attempt on her life.Banerji's additional private secretary Ratan Mukherjee told reporters that she has been advised rest by doctors after she complained of chest pain.
