Mamata Banerjee to take over as CM of West Bengal today

In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress Chief Ms. Mamata Banerjee will be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of the state today. The State Governor M.K. Narayanan will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Ms. Banerjee and new Council of Ministers at Raj Bhavan in Kolkata this afternoon. Besides Ms. Banerjee, 42 Ministers will take oath at a glittering function in Raj Bhavan. The Congress has also decided to join Ms. Banerjee led Cabinet. The Union Ministers P. Chidambaram, A. K. Anthony and Pranab Mukherjee will be present at the swearing-in ceremony. AIR Correspondent reports, Ms. Mamata Banerjee will take oath exactly at 13 hours past one minute, an auspicious time as per Bengali almanac. Out of total ministers 35 will be from Trinamul Congress and remaining seven from Congress. Among 43 member council of ministers 34 will be of cabinet rank while nine will be inducted as minister of state. Over three thousand two hundred guests including outgoing Chief Minister Mr. Bhuddhadev Bhattacharjee, Chief of Tata Group Mr. Rattan Tata, family members of Shingur and Nandigram movement victims have been invited to witness the star studded swearing-in ceremony. Gaint screens have been set up at various locations in Kolkata for live telecast of the ceremony for commoner to have the glimpse of the event. The State Secretariat has also been given a face lift to greet new ministers.
