Mamata Banerjee criticizes EC for transferring senior police officers without consulting state govt

<span style="color: #222222;">The Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has criticized the Election Commission for transferring senior police officers without consulting the State Government. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner today Ms. Banerjee said that the step taken by the Commission is prima facie un-democratic and biased and against the established practice of seeking a panel of names of officers from the State Government.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Election Commission removed the Commissioner of police of Kolkata and Bidhannagar Mr. Anuj Sharma and Ganwant Singh from their posts last night. The Commission also transferred the Superintendent of police of Birbhum and Diamond Harbour. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Commission in its direction to the Chief Electoral officer of West Bengal said that Mr. Sharma, Mr. Singh and two other Superintendents of police who were shifted should not be involved in election process.</span><br />''
