In Punjab, indefinite curfew has been clamped at Malerkotla in Sangrur district following violence. The violence in parts of Malerkotla town late last nightwas triggered by rumours spread by some unidentified miscreants that a Holy Book has been desecrated in the US.Confirming this to AIR Jalandhar Correspondent, the Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur, Dr. Harkesh Singh Sidhu said that a meeting with religious has been organised and the religious leaders have appealed for maintaining peace.A case for disturbing peace by igniting religious sentiments and interfering in police working has been registered against some persons and some arrests are expected by evening.
