In Maharashtra, seven persons who were arrested for burning to death Additional District Collector of Malegaon Yashwant Sonawane have been remanded to police custody till 8th of February. They were produced before a local court on Wednesday.Police have said that the main accused in the case is Popat Dattu Shinde who poured kerosene on Sonawane and burnt him to death at Panewadi near Manmad.Others nabbed by the police are Shinde's brother-in-law Sitaram Balerao and aide Raju Shirsat. Other supects – Kacharu Surode, Vikas Shinde, Dipak Borase and Tausif Shaikh, Altaf Shaikh – have also been apprehended. Police say another suspect, Shinde's son – Kunal – is absconding. Meanwhile, the victim's family has demanded a CBI probe into the incident.
