Maldives Prez calls enhance Indo-Pak talks to resolve differences

The President of Maldives Mohammed Nasheed has called for enhanced dialogue between India and Pakistan to resolve their differences. <br/><br/>Addressing the 16th SAARC Summit in Thimphu, he hoped that leaders of India and Pakistan will have effective conversation taking a cue from the free-flowing exchanges at the luncheon meeting today. <br/><br/>In his maiden and extempore address, Mr Nasheed said, South Asia, free from rancour has to play a dominant role in 21st Century. <br/><br/>Dwelling on the economic crisis, he acknowledged India's support to Maldives to tide over the after-effects of Global meltdown. He also urged the smaller economies of the region to learn from India's experiences, which he said emerged unscathed from global economic crisis.He said, greater prosperity can lead to a peaceful region. <br/><br/>Mr Nasheed also called for establishment of low-carbon research centre and a Regional Human Rights mechanism on the lines of ASEAN forum.
