Foreign Minister Abdulla Shaheed expressed deep gratitude for Prime Minister Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar along with Indian embassy in Male. He said the seven Maldivians will be housed in India for quarantine period upon arrival.<br />'' <br />'' While nine Maldivians reside in Wuhan, seven took the opportunity provided by the government to return home. The Indian embassy in Male said that the timely evacuation once again proves India's abilities as a first responder in times of emergency for the Maldivian people, and that it underscores the special and time-tested bonds of kinship that exist between India and Maldives.<br />'' <br />''<br />''It also underscores the synergy between India's Neighbourhood First' and the Maldives' India First policies. India helped to evacuate a Maldivian student from Yemen back in 2015, in wake of the spiraling violence.</span>
