Maldives Elections Commission (EC) has confirmed that Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has won the presidential election held last Sunday. EC announced the final result of the election at a press conference today. <br />''<br />''<br />''It stated that President Abdulla Yameen, the candidate of the ruling party, received 96,052 votes while Mr Solih, the candidate of the opposition coalition, received 134,705. <br />''<br />''<br />''The opposition had grown increasingly concerned over the EC's delay in announcing the final result amidst speculation that ruling party may file complaints.
