<span style="color: #222222;">Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has said, his government will repeal the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA). </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Speaking at a programme in Shah Alam, the state capital of Selangor, the Prime Minister said, the government would adhere to the rule of law by enforcing laws that would protect the people. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said the people will be protected under laws that are fair and any offences will be brought before and decided by the court. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">SOSMA, which was introduced during former Prime minister Najib Razak's administration in 2012, allowed the government to arrest anyone without having to go to court. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">It also allows for suspects to be detained without charge for 28 days and can incur a lengthy prison sentence. </span><br />''  <br />
