<span style="color: #222222;">The work of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) garden department, which takes care of lakhs of trees under its jurisdiction, including over 700 parks in its areas, has captured the special attention of Sultan Tuanku Sallehuddin of Malaysia's Kedah state. Following which the Malaysian consul-general in Mumbai Zainal Azlan Mohd Nadzir visited the BMC's garden department in Byculla today and appreciated its work saying its unique scientific ideas will be implemented in Malaysia too.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR Correspondent reports, tree trunks in Mumbai are painted red and white using Sinopia and Lime. According to BMC officials, recently, the Sultan of Malaysia's Kedah state visited Mumbai when he noticed the red and white colours on the tree trunks. On his return, he asked officials to find out the reasons for the colours and check if they help to protect the trees.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Taking a cue from the Sultan, Malaysian consul-general in Mumbai Zainal Azlan Mohd Nadzir visited the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's garden department in Byculla today. He met Jitendra Pardeshi, the BMC's superintendent of gardens who explained to him why tree trunks in Mumbai are painted with a coating of Sinopia and lime. Officials explained to Nadzir that the dual coating protects the trees from fungi and insects. Apart from this, information about various activities being implemented by the garden department was also given to Nadzir during the visit.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Nadzir said that based on the information taken from the BMC's garden department he would ask the authorities in Malaysia to also paint trees there with Sinopia and lime.</span><br />'' &nbsp;<br />
