London Olympics Bronze medalist Saina Nehwal and the Indian duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Pradnya Gadre today waltzed into their respective quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open Super Series Badminton tournament at Kuala Lumpur. In the Women's Singles pre-quarterfinals, top seed Saina defeated Pui Yin Yip of Hong Kong, in straight games, 21-12, 21-9 and regained the World Number Two status. Saina will next play Nozomi Okuhara of Japan for a place in the semi-finals.In the Women's Doubles pre-quarterfinals, the duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Pradnya Gadre beat the sixth seeded Chinese pair of Jin Ma and Jinhua Tang, 22-24, 21-16, 21-19 to storm into the last eight stage. London Olympics quarterfinalist P. Kashyap has crashed out of the Men's Singles section. He lost to sixth seed Jan Jorgensen of Denmark, 17-21, 14-21. In the same category, Gurusaidutt lost to the second seeded Japanese Kenichi Tago, 25-27, 19-21.
