Malaysia Grand Prix: Sindhu reaches women's singles SFs

India's rising star, P V Sindhu has reached the women's singles semi-finals of the Malaysia Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament in Kuala Lumpur. She defeated seventh seeded Hera Desi of Indonesia 21-17, 21-17 in the quarter finals today. Earlier in the day, Sindhu defeated Ngan Yi Cheung of Hong Kong 11-21, 21-18, 21-10 to enter the quarter-finals. Sindhu will now take on third seed Sapasiri Teratanchai of Thailand in the semis. RMV Gursaidutt today entered the quarterfinals of the men's singles category by beating Riichi Takeshit of Japan 21-19, 21-16. He will take on Iskandar Zulkarnain of Malaysia in the men's singles quarter finals. However, the other Indian men's singles contenders, K Srikanth and Sameer Verma bowed out of the tournament after losing their respective third round ties. Sameer was defeated by Hongkong's Yang Kit Chan while Malaysia's Deren Liyu beat K.Srikanth.
