In the Kashmir Valley, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed an event on Disaster Risk Reduction organized by J&K Disaster Management Authority at University of Kashmir in Srinagar on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor shared the efforts of Union Territory administration for effective disaster preparedness mechanisms, building safe and resilient J&K. He said that making J&K disaster resilient is top priority and steps are being taken to strengthen disaster risk reduction system.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Mr. Sinha also called for accelerated action to tackle concerns highlighted in this year's International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction theme, 'Fighting inequality for a resilient future'. He also suggested for constituting disaster management committee in every Panchayat falling under disaster-prone areas.</span><br />
