External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said all efforts are underway to rescue Indian nationals kidnapped in Iraq.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Ms Swaraj said she is personally supervising the rescue efforts.
She assured the relatives of the kidnapped people that the government will leave no stone unturned to rescue them.
The Minister will meet the relatives of the kidnapped nationals later today. 40 Indian workers, most of them from Punjab, were kidnapped in Iraq's Mosul city and their fate is still unknown.
Besides, some other Indian nationals are stranded in Tikrit and Mosul.
The External Affairs Ministry is monitoring the situation in Iraq on an hourly basis and is in touch with the Iraqi government.
The Ministry has set up a round-the-clock control room to provide information to the families of those Indians stranded in Iraq.
