Maken seeks probe into match fixing claims made by Kambli

Sports Minister Ajay Maken has called for a probe into the match fixing allegations made by former cricket Vinod Kambli. Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Saturday, he said, that cricket fans in the country have a right to know about the truth.He added that if BCCI does not act, the Sports Ministry may conduct an inquiry of its own. He said that his Ministry will consult with Home Ministry for formulating a tough law to curb betting and match fixing.Reacting to Maken's statement, Chairman of the IPL Governing Council Rajiv Shukla said that the Board is not giving any importance to the claims made by Kambli.He added, if a person is levelling allegations after fifteen years, they are not worth taking note of. Shukla asserted that the cricket board has acted tough on corrupt cricketers and has never forgiven such players.Vinod Kambli on Friday alleged that the semi-final world cup match in 1996 between Sri Lanka and India was fixed.
