Holding pre-budget consultations with representatives of the agriculture sector, in New Delhi, Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley said that the concerns of the sector are high on the priority of the government. Mr. Jaitely said, despite the constraints of the economy, the government will try its best to boost this sector.During the meeting, representatives of the sector made various suggestions including establishing a Kissan TV Channel to create awareness among farmers about new technologies, government programmes and quality parameters. They also gave suggestions about timely decision on Minimum Support Price at cost of production plus 50 per cent, efficient procurement policy, setting-up of boards for different commodities and water conservation as a national priority with focus on drip and sprinkler irrigation.
