Makar Sankranti- is being celebrated as a festival of kites in Gujarat today. The festival is also popularly known as Uttarayan throughout the state. The people in cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot are enjoying the kite flying with COVID-19 restrictions. The State Government along with many voluntary organizations has launched Karuna Abhiyan to save birds being injured due to the string of kites. Mr. Shah performed Aarti and Puja at the historic Jagannath temple in Ahmedabad with his family members this morning. At the other end, the State Government has started distributing one kilogram chana to more than 69 lakh families free of cost under the National Food Security Act. According to official sources, three crore 37 lakh people will get the benefit of this free distribution of chana. </span><br />
