Major U.S. stock indices declined on Tuesday amid fall in technology and other megacap shares. Investors looked toward a major week of events including central bank meetings and earnings reports.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.8 percent, the S&P 500 declined 1.3 percent and the Nasdaq Composite index plunged two percent.
