Incessant rain continued to occur in several parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Some western districts also experienced light to moderate rain. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the major rivers continued to swell due to substantial rain in their catchments.The river Rapti, Saryu, Ganga and Yamuna continued due to swell at several places due to incessant rain in their catchments. Ghaghra, Saryu, Sharda and Rapti rivers continued their rising trend today. Rapti is nearing the warning level in Balrampur while the river Ganga is rising in Allahabad, Varanasi and Ghazipur. The rain has benefitted the Kharif crop in eastern UP. The farmers at most of the places have completed sowing of pulses, oilseed and Paddy.
