In eastern Uttar Pradesh, major rivers – Ghaghra, Rapti and Saryu – are in spate following continues heavy rain in the mountains of Uttarakhand and Nepal. The flooded rivers are threatening to submerge hundreds of villages. Already a dozen villages in Barabanki district have been flooded with the rising Saryu and Ghaghra breaching their banks at many places.Flood water has engulfed about three dozen villages in Balrampur district.In Ayodhya, Saryu river is flowing 92 points above the danger level and in Barabanki about 2000 people were rendered homeless due to flood.
