Monsoon maintained its grip over most parts of north India today. In Uttar Pradesh, monsoon rain continues to lash several areas. Ghaghra, Sharda, Ganga and Rapti rivers are in spate. According to state relief commissioner, about 3 lakh population of nine districts has been hit by floods. Rain-related incidents claimed five more lives in Uttar Pradesh. Relief operations have been speeded up. A report: In Uttarakhand, roads leading to Pithouragarh from Tanakpur and Almora hit by landslides were opened this afternoon. But, many link roads in different parts of the hill areas are still closed due to landslides. Delhi was drenched for the third consecutive day. Delhi's maximum temperature settled at 33 deg C, normal for this time of the year.
