Assam Government has effected a major reshuffle in the police department transferring as many as nine senior officials including seven of the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP). A major reshuffle in the police department was on the cards, after the recent violence at Capital Dispur in which three persons, including a minor died in police firing. Police had resorted to firing after a protest rally against eviction turned violent near Dispur area leading to loss of human lives and damage of public property.
